Andy Murray’s looked very solid en-route to the 2011 Australian Open semifinals, dropping his first set of the tournament to Alexandr Dolgopolov in the quarterfinals.
Well known for his tendency to capitulate under pressure, Murray showed real composure to win a tough first set and hold on for the win when Dolgopolov took the third set.
David Ferrer, meanwhile, comes into the match having pulled off the biggest upset of the tournament, beating Rafael Nadal in straight sets in his quarterfinal.
The result is all the more surprising given Ferrer’s shaky start to the tournament, but with a win over the world number one beneath his belt, Ferrer will be looking nowhere but forward on Friday as he attempts to reach his first grand slam final.
